White Rock Boat Club is an all-volunteer club, and all boats are privately owned, so we are not in a position to offer public sailing classes. However, we do offer adult sailing classes for new or existing club members, including Provisional Members, which is $50 and allows participation in the class and a 30-day membership. We typically hold 2 classes a year, one in the late Spring and one in the early Fall. The classes typically run two nights a week from 6pm to 8:30pm for three weeks. The classes are free; an optional book is available for $15. Training is primarily in Flying Scots, but other fleets may participate.
Points to be covered include seamanship, leaving the pier, sailing upwind and points of sail, tacking, jibing, returning to pier, man overboard, and basic knots. The sessions will be on the water as long as the weather cooperates.
WRBC members or persons interested in a Provisional Membership and wishing to take this course must email the club to be signed up on the roster.
