Hello WRBC Members! Sea Scout Ship 1899 is holding an pirate-themed open house/fundraiser on October 29 (Flyer Attached) for both scouts and non-scouts, youth ages 10+ from the Dallas-area community. We have quite the extensive, high-adventure treasure hunt planned with pirate and boat-themed puzzles, riddles, challenges, clues, etc. and PRIZES to give youth in attendance a taste of the adventures of sea scouting while also having lots of fun in the process. Not to mention having an excuse to dress up before Halloween and make new friends who also like adventure and boating..... This event will be important to our ability to raise funds to help pay for summer long cruise, SCUBA classes, regatta entry fees, and other ship programming, as well as to help scholarship sea scouts in need of financial assistance. But we will need a lot of help to get this across the finish line and make it a success!!  The immediate ask from WRBC members is: • Please help with publicity for the event - the more youth guests (both scouts and non-scouts) can attend, the more funds we can raise. Please share with your friends/family with middle- and high-school aged kids, post flyers (attached PDF) or announcements in your local community newsletters, social media, schools, and other communication channels - this will be a tremendous help. • If you're able to volunteer to cover one of the activity stations in the quest and/or the check-in table, or potentially help with the decorations and set-up before the event starts (Sunday, October 29), this would be greatly appreciated and a huge help as well. I have costumes volunteers can wear if you don't already have anything pirate-themed in your wardrobe.
